Club Championships

On 29th March 2008 we held our club championships, which was a huge success.  Medals were won and there were also trophies for "best boy", "best girl", "player of the year" and "throw of the day".  The event was sponsored by David James.  See inside for more info and pics!

Goole Championships Results.  Fantastic day for the club on Sunday. Five of our junior players did us proud up in Goole Yorkshire for the Open Championships. They all come away with a medal. Make no mistake, this was not an easy competition by any means. Oop North they dont give you anything, you have to earn it.
Ciara Moore - Silver. George Smith - Silver. Kate Smith - Bronze. Mathew Moore - Bronze. Henry Passam - Bronze. Well done to all of you. Also to coach Gemma as well who I know fought in this same competition many years ago as an 8 or 9 year old. Oh well times change. Report to follow inside over the next few days. So watch this space and dont forget to leave any messages on our guestbook at the back.

Look inside for details of Club Grading held on Monday 28th & Wednesday 30th January

Densign White and Andrew Moshinof present the club with the Sport England Clubmark. Congratulations must go to Gemma. For the fantastic achievment in the club being awarded the Sport England Clubmark. Pictures and report inside.

Look for latest updates inside. Send any news or pix to Dave. Look at the video page. More to follow

John Humprey does it at last
At last John has the points for his first dan. Bedford grading (8th Sept) Johns first fight scored an ippon. Not the best throw in the world but uke went flat on his back. For a moment there was a deathly silence then the cheers started. Well done John. And also Andy Tate who got 10 points for his first dan as well. On to the March Grading for Andy.

A new home for Monday & Wednesday Nights

Sadly we have left St. Lukes in Duston , for our part we did not want to move but the school decided they needed the space where we stored our mats so we had to go.

The Church hall in Kingsthorpe on Mondays did us proud as well.

But we have found fantastic new facilities thanks to Nick (Wilkins) with the luxury of showers, changing rooms, lounge area and bar. So far it has gone really well.
So Mondays & Wednesdays we are at the Carlesburg Social Club (directions below). The sports hall there is ideal for us and makes a perfect dojo.

Everbody is welcome - members old and new. Visitors can be sure of a warm welcome. The car park has a barrier, press A2 and tell the steward your there for the judo to be let in.

FREE FUN COMPETITION
Look at page 11 for a free fun competition for all junior club members to enter.

REPORT ON EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 2006
Well they were a bit of a shambles, the flight out of Birmingham was delayed and we missed the wiegh in. And from what we could find out most competitors were being fined an extra 100 Euros for some reason or other. So no fighting for us. Still a great trip. The hotel was bBrilliant as well. So much to do in Prague,so with a bit of time on my hands I even went for a swim in the indoor pool, and thought lets have a sauna while I am here as well. So I sat there quite innocent in the sauna in my swim shorts minding my own business when 2 ladies walked in and joined me. Now I always thought Brazilian was a type of coffee bean or South American footballer perhaps, but now I know better. Well nobody told me they dont wear swimsuits out there when they use the sauna.........And that the sauna`s are mixed.

Carlsburg Social Club is easy to find. Situated down the Old Towcester Road. If heading out of the town centre head for Junction 15, just before the level crossing turn right by The Curry House and the social club is on the right.
If coming in to town from the M1 Junc 15, head in to town and turn left just after the level crossing
